Pilot project & installation
OKQ8 has installed Energy Probe across more than a hundred refrigeration units, achieving annual cost savings of over 422,000 SEK – plus a CO₂ reduction of 11 tons.
As a frontrunner in sustainability and energy efficiency, OKQ8 conducted a review of its refrigeration systems across multiple stations. The company first tested Energy Probe at three pilot locations, and after seeing the impressive results, they expanded the installation to 51 stations—from Östersund in the north to Trelleborg in the south.
The results exceeded expectations:

The pilot project also included a compressor performance assessment to map out system efficiency.
"This was incredibly valuable for ensuring our systems were operating optimally before rolling out the full project," says Urban Liljegren, Property Manager at OKQ8.
Installations were completed in early 2021, covering 103 refrigeration units. According to Liljegren, two key factors drove the decision to implement Energy Probe on a larger scale:
"The pilot tests showed a significant difference, giving us clear reference points for the savings potential. Another crucial factor was the simplicity of the installation process. We were also very happy with the pricing and service. Once we made the decision, the work was carried out quickly and efficiently."
Beyond energy and cost savings, Energy Probe has delivered additional benefits, including minimal downtime and near-zero service calls.
